H.E.L.P’s Contributions to Literacy

Last year H.E.L.P. volunteers contributed 7,283 hours supporting literacy in Southwest Virginia.

• Committed volunteers and strong program partners enabled HELP to impact Southwest Virginia with over 35,258 hours of literacy focused programs and activities in Southwest Virginia.
• With the help of our “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” over 1,340 books have been distributed to children in Washington County.
• H.E.L.P.’s after school programs and the TURNING PAGES Reading Program impacted 157 children with 22,371 hours of academic support to children in Washington and Russell Counties. 60% of the prior year’s attendees were retained this year.
• H.E.L.P.’s Adult programs encourage and provide one-on-one tutoring to 55 adult learners.
